Prof. Dr. Dilip Kumar Roy graduated from Sylhet M A G Osmani Medical College in 1980.

He was trained in Internal medicine and obtained his fellowship (FCPS) in internal medicine from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in 1986. He was trained and received senior fellowship in clinical nephrology from Singapore General hospital under Colombo plan scholarship in 1993. He obtained his MS in nephrology from the University of Dhaka in 2000.

Dr. Roy worked in different institutions of Bangladesh. He served in the National Institute of Nephrology for about 16 years and retired as Professor of nephrology from NIKDU in 2016

He had around 30 publications in his credit in peer-reviewed national and international journals. He was also involved in teaching and training post graduate students of Nephrology. He received life time achievement gold medal award in nephrology from Bangladesh renal Association in 2020
